Concept
As part of the overall concept, school classes and kindergarten groups are picked up from elementary school or day care centers for children by the responsible district police officer and accompanied to the traffic puppet stage. On the way, practical exercises in road traffic and on and in public transport are carried out, followed by the traffic prevention play in the traffic puppet theater in Westfalenpark. On request, fifth-graders can also have the play prepared or followed up at school by the relevant road safety advisor.
After the police puppeteers in Dortmund had been touring schools with a mobile stage for over 40 years, the stationary traffic puppet stage was opened on 23rd February 2002.02.2002, the stationary traffic puppet stage in Westfalenpark began operating.
The traffic puppet stage in Westfalenpark is based on a prevention concept that was initially unique in Germany and has been successfully implemented in collaboration with various cooperation partners since 2002. This concept has been followed by other traffic puppet stages over the years. As a result, over 12,000 visitors can be welcomed to the traffic puppet stage every year.
